She was educated and honed her skills at theand , both in New York City and at the , Italy. She spends part of every autumn in Italy. Twenty years ago she started The Studio School in Chapel Hill, North Carolina where she teaches and guides both adults and children in the basic skills of drawing and painting and ultimately in the proper technique to create a balanced, creative, interesting work of art. Her primary emphasis is to create an accurate representation of the influence of light upon the subject.
Sandi was our resident artist in September of last year and we are pleased to welcome her back to Borgo Santo Pietro.
“Painting is about observing and recording the subject with proper lighting contrasts and in a manner to create an emotional response to the painting and not just a recorded picture. I am influenced by Bouguereau, Sargent, and Sorolla among many others. My long career as an artist and as a teacher of art stems from a passionate love for painting and a desire and commitment to open the doors for my students to enjoy that same love and satisfaction of a job well done.”
